In our familial meanderings yesterday, we swung by the plot to see how things are. It also served to remind me of projects I need to do before we start trying to grow out there again. I need to do a major repair/rebuild of our gate and to replace a rotted end board in one of the planter box.
One of the adjoining fence walls needed to be repaired. I'm not sure what happened, but the top part (6' and up) had been toppled over into into our plot. My guess is either a deer took it out or some really strong wind (which seems unlikely) blew it over. Either way, I did a rudimentary repair job on it with what was there.
We have onions, garlic, and shallots all coming up. All of that is pretty much expected given the growth they had in the fall. More shallots are coming up than I expected, however.
What was quite surprising is that we had left some brussels sprouts plants in the ground (and pots) over the winter. A few of them are sending out new greenery! I have no idea if this is expected after overwintering or not, but I'll watch to see what happens, anyway. Below are two of them.
